DEEPER, IN THE HOLY SPIRIT
INTRODUCTION
The water written about in Ezekiel 47:1-9 symbolizes grace and the Holy Spirit, who grants life and restoration, from the superficiality of faith to the fullness of God's power.
CONTENT
- The source of life comes from God. In the vision, water flows from beneath the temple, to the right of the altar (Ezekiel 47:1).
- Spiritual meaning: The temple symbolizes God's presence and sanctuary. This teaches us that true healing and strength do not come from human effort or wisdom, but from God's presence.
- Spiritual growth is progressive (goes deeper) The water flow is measured, and its depth gradually increases:
- Ankles (Ezekiel 47:3): Representing our knowledge of God at a superficial level (the beginning). We can still rely on our own strength to move forward.
- Up to the knees (Ezekiel 47:4a): Beginning to learn to pray and surrender ourselves more to God.
- Up to the waist (Ezekiel 47:4b): A spiritual life that is increasingly controlled by God. Our self-control begins to be surrendered to Him.
- The water overflows and becomes a deep river (Ezekiel 47:5): Complete surrender. We allow the Holy Spirit to fully carry and guide our lives, so that we can no longer cross the river by our own strength.
CONCLUSION
God calls us not to be superficial Christians (at a single level), but to continue growing, to dig deeper, and to allow ourselves to be fully led by the power of His grace.
