CELEBRATION OF THE DAY OF THE OUTPOURING OF THE HOLY SPIRIT (PENTECOST)
INTRODUCTION
The HOLY SPIRIT is given to us who believe in the LORD JESUS (John 14:26).
CONTENT
- He ascended to heaven, so that the Holy Spirit could come to help believers.
- The life of a believer depends not only on something present in him, or on something or someone, but on the power of the Holy Spirit (Zechariah 4:6). If the Lord Jesus had not ascended to heaven, the Holy Spirit would not have come to this world in a special way for those who believe in Him (John 16:7).
- If the Holy Spirit is present in someone, then He will:
- Convincing him of sin, righteousness, and the coming judgment (John 16:8).
- Learning and reminding ourselves of what the Bible says (John 14:26).
- Helping us to lead a life that is pleasing to God (Romans 8:13).
- Helping us to have abundant hope (Romans 15:13).
- Also equip us to be witnesses of Jesus Christ to the whole world (Acts 1:8).
- Helping us when we lift up our prayers to God with deep lamentation (Romans 8:26; Jude 1:20).
- Steadily bringing God's love into our hearts, so that we can love God and our neighbors (Romans 5:5; Matthew 22:38-40).
- Without the Holy Spirit, our life is like a lamp without oil and salt without taste. It is useless and is thrown away by people (Matthew 5:13).
- He has ascended to heaven, so that the worship of Him will become more meaningful and passionate. If our Lord Jesus Christ had not ascended to heaven, worship would be limited by time, place, and circumstances. The Holy Spirit brings an atmosphere of worship in spirit and truth. Worship is no longer bound by time, place, or who is in charge (John 4:20-24). He will provide for whoever leads the worship, and whatever we need as we worship Him (John 4:20–24, Isaiah 58:13–14). If we believe in His ascension to heaven, are we ready for His return?
CONCLUSION
Jesus has ascended to heaven without leaving us, but He is guiding us through the Holy Spirit.
