BECOMING A DISCIPLE OF CHRIST

INTRODUCTION

Nehemiah 2:17

“Come and let us build the wall of Jerusalem, that we may no longer be a reproach.”

Learn from Nehemiah: While those around him criticized him, Nehemiah chose to take responsibility. To be a Christian without responsibility and obedience is to be a Christian without Christ.

CONTENT

The end times will be characterized not only by unbridled evil, but also by normalized indifference.

"For men will be lovers of themselves, ... unthankful."

(2 Timothy 3:2-3)

Amid the ruins of Jerusalem, Nehemiah didn't choose safety. He wept, prayed, and then rose to rebuild the city.

  • He fought the egocentric trend of the end times with spiritual responsibility.

  • He learned that true faith not only mourns brokenness but also works to restore it.

1.     THE END TIMES EGO DESTROYS RESPONSIBILITY

The people of the end times love themselves and are reluctant to bear collective burdens.

Nehemiah shows that true love always moves a person to action, not to hiding himself (Nehemiah 1:4).

2.     TRUE FAITH ALWAYS ENDEAVORS TO BUILD UP

Nehemiah didn't just pray; he took measures. He didn't just weep; he took action. (Nehemiah 2:4)

A sincere prayer gives the courage to build in the midst of ruins.

3.     GOING AGAINST THE FLOW MEANS YOU ARE WILLING TO EXPERIENCE OPPOSITION AND BE LAUGHED AT IN A SCORNFUL MANNER.*

Nehemiah was mocked, threatened, and slandered. But he did not give up (Nehemiah 4:1-3).

The end times hate those who are building, because light always dispels darkness.

4.     SPIRITUAL DEVELOPMENT STARTS FROM AN UNSELFISH HEART

Nehemiah didn't seek fame, popularity, or comfort. He sought God's glory.

In the end times, God seeks builders, not spectators.

CONCLUSION

Don't just look at the damage or criticize the situation, but participate in the restoration. Be God's instrument in the midst of an age of disintegration.
