FROM MOVEMENT TO MOVEMENT

INTRODUCTION

From the conversation between the Lord Jesus and the Samaritan woman in John 4:1-42, we will learn what strategy must be followed to bring about the movement.

CONTENT

1.      REPENTANCE AND OBEDIENCE (John 4:16-19).

  • To experience the movement, repentance for the past and obedience are necessary.

  • Like this Samaritan woman, we must be honest, open, humble, and grateful for God's gifts.

When we are willing to honestly admit our shortcomings, God, the source of love, miracles, and signs, will come into our lives and intervene. Repentance from sin is intimately connected to a great movement.

2.      PERSONAL ENCOUNTER OR EXPERIENCE WITH GOD (John 4:25-26).

  • People who have had a personal encounter will certainly, as a child of God, experience personal accomplishments that come from God.

  • He must surely also be hungry and thirsty for God. He will not only "know the truth" but will also experience it, so that what he has experienced will be proclaimed and lead to a movement.

3.      A LOVING HEART (John 4:28-30)

This Samaritan woman loved the people in her town, and therefore, she went back to town. Without a loving heart, we will not experience movement. Loving means caring for others.

Even if we cannot always help those around us financially, we can still pray, share God's Word, or make time to visit. Every act of kindness is an expression of love and cannot be hindered by limited resources or facilities.

4.      HAVING A VISION

The Samaritan woman no longer cared for her jar and water, but left them at the well.

She forgot her original purpose and personal needs because she had a vision to bring her villagers to Jesus. She realized that what she had found was so important—namely, healing from bitterness and restoration after a love crisis—that she had to share it with others.

When a person's heart is pure, his or her vision becomes clearer. Developing a vision is not an instant process; it takes time. And people with a strong vision attract others who share their vision.

CONCLUSION

If we truly experience and love God, things will certainly move. Do not waste any blessing, talent, or innovation from God.
