THE ROLE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT IN THE CHURCH MOVEMENT (2)

INTRODUCTION

There are two additional points about the role of the Holy Spirit in moving believers to witness.

CONTENT

1.      The Holy Spirit as a Life Changer:

  • The Holy Spirit changes the old life into a new, better life by changing the mindset and behavior (Romans 8:1-2, 2 Corinthians 5:17).

  • He seals believers to Himself, thus guaranteeing their salvation (Ephesians 1:14-15).

  • He also changes the character of believers so that they become like Christ (John 16:13).

2.      The Holy Spirit as the source of power:

  • The Holy Spirit empowers us to overcome the desires of the flesh and produce the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-25).

  • He empowers believers to testify of Christ boldly and without fear (Acts 4:31).

  • He also gives wisdom and ability to face problems and find solutions (Ephesians 1:17). Examples: God's wisdom to Elisha and Daniel.

Examples of Biblical figures transformed by the Holy Spirit:

  • Zacchaeus: Became generous and shared his possessions with the poor.

  • Paul: from a persecutor to a faithful follower of Christ.

  • Peter: From a coward turned into a brave man.

The Importance of Being Filled with the Holy Spirit:

  • A person filled with the Holy Spirit is a courageous person who is not afraid to do God's will.

  • The Holy Spirit gives us the power to control ourselves in producing the fruit of the Spirit.

  • He empowers believers to be effective witnesses of Christ.

CONCLUSION

The importance of the role of the Holy Spirit in the life of a believer begins with the character change up to becoming an effective witness for Christ.
