GOD'S FIRE BRINGS ENTHUSIASM AND MERCY

INTRODUCTION

When the Holy Spirit descended upon the disciples, it appeared as tongues of fire. And they were once again enthusiastic in proclaiming the good news/news of salvation in Jesus to many (Acts 2:1-47; 3:1-10) just as in Isaiah 61:1-2. This image was revealed to me by God when I read from Mark 2:1-5.

CONTENT

There are three things we can learn from these four people:

  1. They have a heart full of compassion for others (Mark 2:3).

These four individuals have compassion for others whom they know are in desperate need of Jesus' touch.

The paralysed man is a symbol of the condition of people around us. Physically, they may not be paralysed, but in reality, they are experiencing ‘paralysis’ in their lives. Spiritual, emotional, material, and other forms of paralysis, where they truly need the touch of Jesus Christ. Do we have a compassionate heart towards them?

  2. They try to introduce other people to the Lord Jesus (Mark 2:4).

It turned out that in order to achieve this, they encountered obstacles. There were so many people crowding around that they could no longer enter through the door because of the large crowd. But they did not give up easily; they continued to strive so that the paralysed man could meet Jesus.

Perhaps we do not have the physical strength to carry someone, but we can “carry” them through our prayers. Therefore, never give up, and never stop praying for those who need to meet Jesus. Our prayers are never in vain.

  3. They really have faith

One very interesting phrase from the verse we read above is: ‘...When Jesus saw their faith...’

And we can read the impact of that faith in verses 11 and 12, that the paralytic was healed by the Lord Jesus and all those who were present glorified Him because of the miracle that the Lord Jesus performed for the paralytic.

When Jesus sees genuine faith through our efforts and prayers to bring others to meet Him, they will experience the touch and miracles of God. Thus, the people around us will glorify God.

CONCLSUSION

Keep praying for souls who need the Lord Jesus. Keep doing Prayer 3 and bring people to the Lord Jesus.
