GOD IS WITH US

INTRODUCTION

Matthew 28:18-20

Jesus is Immanuel (God is with us) – meaning that God is no longer far away. This name fulfils the prophecies in Isaiah 7:14 and Matthew 1:23, which affirm that Jesus is God made man to help, save, and dwell with us always (Matthew 1:21).

CONTENT

Jesus is Immanuel, which means:

1. The Incarnation of God (God becomes Man)

This is a profound mystery in which the Lord of the Universe is present in the form of a frail infant.

  • God, who took on human form to experience human frailty and save humanity.

2. Eternal participation

Immanuel is not only a promise in times of need, but a commitment to God's presence every day.

  • This promise continues from the beginning of the Gospel of Matthew right through to Jesus’ promise, which says: "I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:20).

3. God knows us personally.

God's presence means that He knows every human suffering, every weakness, and every struggle thoroughly.

4. Presence amidst difficulties

Even in the most difficult circumstances—be it suffering, loneliness, or fear—God is present and never abandons His people (1 Corinthians 10:13).

CONCLUSION

Do not be afraid, for God is with us (Immanuel). Live in the awareness of God's presence.
