A BEAUTIFUL LIFE IN OBEDIENCE

INTRODUCTION

"Therefore, you shall keep every commandment which I command you today, ...." (Deuteronomy 11:8).

God continually reminded the Israelites of obedience. There are four meanings of "obedience" in Deuteronomy 11:8-32.

CONTENT

1. Hold on unshakable to all the commandments (Deuteronomy 11:8).

  • Our lifeblood is the Word of the LORD; wherever we go, whatever happens, do base everything on the Word and we will be safe.

  • If we do not have the Word, then we are the ones who are in danger. Therefore, those who obey are those who have the Word.

2. Be sincere (Deuteronomy 11:13, 22)

  • Why do so many things fail? Because we are not sincere. The same applies to spiritual life and ministry.

  • Be sincere, for God seeks sincere people, and He will also be sincere with us.

3. Be careful (Deuteronomy 11:16).

  • Mankind first fell into sin because of "temptation". Eve was tempted by the words of the serpent (the devil). She acted immediately by eating the by God forbidden fruit.

  • So if you want to take action, you must be careful and consider it carefully.

4. Faithfulness (Deuteronomy 11:32).

  • Everything must be done with dedication, for God seeks faithful people.

  • The same applies to service. It must be performed with dedication. If service is done reluctantly and under compulsion, it will be uninteresting or useless in God's eyes. If we serve Him faithfully, thousands will come to Him.

CONCLUSION

So, the meaning of obedience is to hold firm to the word, to be sincere in serving God, to be careful in our actions, and to be faithful in everything we do. God wants us to do this because He wants us to be saved, and because He loves us.
