REVIVAL BRINGS NEW THINKING, FROM WORLDLY THINKING TO DIVINE THINKING

INTRODUCTION

Let us read from Matthew 28:11-13 and John 20:19.

This story took place on the day that Christ rose from the dead, it was the most magnificent and glorious day in the history of mankind ever. They were all hiding in a locked room in fear!

CONTENT

1.      Fear is a barrier (Luke 24:36).

  • Notice that the room was locked, but Jesus suddenly stood in their midst.

  • Space and time can limit people, but not God. This also reminds us of the words of the Lord Jesus: "For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.” (Matthew 18:20).

  • Fear is limiting our ability to understand God's Word.

  • Fear makes our minds stagnate and uncreative.

2.      Jesus opens the minds of His disciples.

After Jesus had calmed the fear in their hearts, He then opened their minds "so they might comprehend the Scriptures" (Luke 24:45). The Greek word that is translated here with ‘open’ is ‘dianoigo’. This word means "to open up completely."

  • When a person believes in Christ, his mind, which was previously closed to God's Word, is opened and that person will then show true repentance, which will result in a renewed life (new life).

  • Behold, they have been changed from cowards to martyrs, because they have seen Christ after He rose from the grave!

3.      “Peace be with you!”

The Lord Jesus wants every Christian to carry His joy within them, so that their joy will be complete. Even when we are down, Jesus whispers to us, "Peace be with you!"

Jesus, who loved His disciples on that night, came to them and said, “Peace be with you,” and then the disciples were filled with joy.

He also wants to give the same peace to us who are His disciples today.

CONCLUSION

If your heart is currently filled with fear, doubt, and despair, have faith in Him, for He is in our midst to give us peace.
