GOD IS VISITING HIS PEOPLE (3)

INTRODUCTION

Pay close attention to God's Word in Matthew 1:18-25.

“…. Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.”

INTRODUCTION

1.     The words “His people”

This term cannot be interpreted as "only Jews," but must be understood as "God's chosen people from all nations." This is clear from verses such as:

a.       Genesis 12:3 - “… all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”

b.     Matthew 28:19 - “'Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations”.

c.       Acts 10:34-35 - “…that God shows no partiality.

d.       Romans 11:11-24 - “…salvation has come to the Gentiles.”

2.     He is the one who will save.

Christ has redeemed us from sin by dying on the cross, thus atoning for our sins.

Because He was willing to die to atone for sin, He had to be born (Matthew 20:28). "The Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many."  Some say, "Jesus died so that we might live." "The Son of God became man so that people might become children of God."

  • Indirectly, Matthew 1:21 shows that if Jesus had not come, humanity would not have been saved.

CONCLUSION

Do not look for a way to salvation outside of Christ. If you want to be saved, come and believe in Jesus as Savior and Lord.
