REVIVAL BRINGS DIVINE CONSCIOUSNESS

INTRODUCTION

Many people long for a revival in their church, family, and country. But do we know this? “Revival” doesn’t begin outside of ourselves, but within our hearts. When we live righteously/sincerely and passionately for God, we bring His presence and stimulate/stir up revival around us.

CONTENT

How can we live a life that brings "revival"? We can learn from the early church in Acts 2:41-43.

Revival occurs when we:
1. Repent and bear the fruit of repentance.

Revival will only last if it is accompanied by genuine repentance, for God will not pour out His Spirit on a heart that continues to love sin (Isaiah 59:1-2) “...your sins have hidden His face from you, that He will not hear.”

2. Living with love for the Word of God.

  • This means a life where God’s truth is the primary compass in making decisions and navigating everyday life.

  • When we love the Word, we don’t just read it, we meditate on it, say it, put it into practice, and make it a part of our lives (Psalm 119:105). “Thy word is a lamp to my feet and a light unto my path.”

3. Praising God in our lifes and praying together in unity.

The lives of believers should be filled with praise, worship and prayer, for they are our spiritual breath. Just as our bodies need oxygen, so too does our soul need an intimate relationship with God through praise, worship and prayer, especially when this happens together. Since the early church, the spiritual life of God’s people has been characterized by being together in praise, worship and prayer. It is in this togetherness that God is especially present and builds up His people.

4. Love giving.

  • The impact of believers who are willing to give is enormous, both spiritually, socially, and in the kingdom of God.

  • Revival isn’t just for personal enjoyment, but also for sharing. We are called to be a light in a dark world (Matthew 5:16). “Let your light so shine before men...”

CONCLUSION

A life that is experiencing a revival is not a perfect life, but a life that is moving ever closer to Christ, continuing to transform itself, and to strive to be a light in the midst of the darkness.
