DEPENDING ON GODS POWER (4)

(Depending on the Holy Spirit) 

INTRODUCTION

The secret of the early church is that it is filled with the atmosphere of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:4, 4:31). One that is baptized by the Holy Spirit will receive the promise of God and he will continue with what the Lord Jesus has commenced (Acts 1: 1,4-5). 

CONTENT

  1. The whole life of the Lord Jesus relies heavily on the guidance by the Holy Spirit. 
    This is exemplified by the following verses: 
  • John 3:34 The Lord Jesus was filled with the Holy Spirit (Luke 4:14).
  • Matthew 4:1 The Lord Jesus was led by the Holy Spirit.
  • Luke 4:18 The Lord Jesus was anointed by the Holy Spirit.
  • Matthew 12:28 The Lord Jesus cast out demons by the power of the Holy Spirit.
  • 1 Timothy 3:16 The Lord Jesus was justified by the Holy Spirit.
  • Romans 8:11 The Lord Jesus was raised from the death by the Holy Spirit.
  • Acts 1:2 The Lord Jesus gave commands by the Holy Spirit.

      2.The Holy Spirit works upon various parties

For example: 

  • In preaching the Gospel (Acts 8:26-40), the Holy Spirit worked on Philip, and also worked on the Ethiopian chamberlain.
  • In Saul’s repentance (Acts 9:1-19), the Holy Spirit worked on Saul and Ananias. 
  • In God’s visitation of the gentiles (Acts 10:1-48), the Holy Spirit worked on Peter as well as Cornelius. 
  • In preparing for the Passover (Luke 22:7-13). 

CONCLUSION

Let us depend on the Holy Spirit and not on the wisdom of the world, so we can move freely since we have a spirit of excellence. THE YEAR OF SOARING!
