THE YEAR OF BREAKTHROUGH (4) A problem is a tool for spiritual growth
2012-jan-22 | THE YEAR OF BREAKTHROUGH (4) A problem is a tool for spiritual growth|Goal
God used the attack by the Philistines on David to have him taking steps in faith (1 Chronicles 14:8).
What steps are needed to experience breakthrough?
1. Be focused on the Lord
“Now the Philistines had come and raided the Valley of Rephaim; so David inquired of God…” (1 Chronicles 14:9-10). We will never get past the obstacles in our lives if we only focus on the obstacles and not on the answer from the Lord and His Word. Just like Peter when the Lord Jesus ordered him to throw out the nets into the water again in order to catch fishes in Luke 5:4,he initially was focused on the circumstances, failure, impossibility, but then when he focused on Jesus a miracle happened (Luke 5:5-6), see also Ephesians 3:20-21.
2. Continue to obey God’s guidance
“As soon as you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the poplar trees, move out to battle, because that will mean God has gone out in front of you to strike the Philistine army.” (1 Chronicles 14:15)
a. Miracles would never happen if David did not take steps according to the Word of God. David got the courage to make some moves or to take actions, because he obeyed God's guidance so that a problem became an instrument for promotions and there was a breakthrough from the ordinary into the extraordinary (1 Chr 14:16-1).
b. How to listen to God's guidance in our time?
God has given us the Bible (2 Tim 3:15-16). It serves as criteria and gives bounderies by which we find out how God leads us. Therefore, it is necessary for us to read, study, and meditate on the Bible. This can be done through our daily devotions, personal Bible studies, coming to the church to listen to the teachings of the Word of God, joining Care meetings to listen to and share with fellow believers, and attending the Ladder of Success classes.
CONCLUSION
In His Word God has promised that we for sure will have a breakthrough in our lives, believe and act accordingly.
