2012-jan-15 | THE YEAR OF BREAKTHROUGH (3) Building up FAITH to harvest blessings/power|Goal

Let us study 1 Chronicles 14:8-11 which contain some spiritual insights. Philistines for instance serve as an image for evil spirits or dark powers, while David resembles to one who genuinely believes in God. We must understand that the devil does not want that a follower of Christ can receive any of God’s promises in his life.

1. The main obstacle for us to experience God’s promise

The devil is our enemy who keeps on manipulating life of a human being, so that he loses control of his own life. The evil one steals away one’s common sense, faith, blessings, etcetera as his primary goal is to tear down life of a human being. The Lord warns us on this, so that we will not be deceived, but remain strong and experience His promises (Ephesians 6:11, John 8:44, 1 Peter 5:8-9a).

2. To build up one’s faith in the Lord

David was not frightened when he was attacked by the Philistines. How did he stay strong and overcome? Because he:

a. has faith in God (Roman 10:9-13);

b. has a close relationship with God (Luke 11:8-11);

c. wants to obey to what God tells him to do (Deuteronomy 28:1-2).

3. Become God’s soldier

Like David, let us also become soldiers of Christ and not weak believers in Christ, who can easily be affected by sins, surroundings or situation (2 Timothy 2:4). Let each of us in the church be a soldier for Christ who:

a. is trained to fight (Gen. 14:14);

b. is trained to accomplish tasks and mission (Gen. 24:1-4);

c. is trained to be trusted in the area of wealth, calling, women (in other words to remain holy) (Gen. 24:9-30).

CONCLUSION

Let us rise up to seize the victory in this Year of Breakthrough.
